I think you can install google analystics on blogger blogs (doesn't work on wordpress - I use statcounter)
Yep, best to open an account with Google Analytics (with your existing google account anyway - ie blogger) and register your blog there. You will need to alter your blog template file slightly, but it's not difficult (cut&paste type stuff), just remember to save out a copy of the template before you mess with it just in case! :-) Get graphs and figures etc to see how it is going day by day and where in the world your visitors are from!
