self imposed computer exile

I have been spending too much time surfing the net, so I banned myself from it on tuesday, It was nice, I had nearly 24 hrs in which I didnt surf.. but my new second hand laptop arrived yesterday which was a bit frustrating till I had my jobs done I didnt play with it.

It s amazing how pulled into the net you can get without really trying.

I had a grumpy week last week so I used the net to escape, its not a good thing so I decided that I needed time out to get back on track.

I think I will try to spend a day every now and then without the internet, its nice to clear my head and spend time doing other stuff
I am also going to try not to be online so much during the day and just leave it till nighttime.

My mood is beginning to feel better, its so nice to begin to feel normal after a bumpy week

I am terrible about wasting time online, although I do get a lot done too. Not sure how I'll cope when I go back to work on Monday! Eeek! It started when I was quite sick for a few years and the internet was a vital tool for keeping in touch with people and getting things done, and I find it like a drug now, i can get quite shakey if I don't have access for a while, so now I deliberately structure in the odd day where I don't go online (and thanks to Blogger's scheduling tool this is a lot easier now).

All that said, I think a lot of the time that I am online would previously have been time reading or watching tv.

I used to watch tv or read as well, now I surf, dunno if its better for me or not.

guess it depends on what the content is.. eg reading blogs or just surfing trademe...

good luck for monday

I am guilty of this, and have been using the net to 'hide' when I am not coping.

I find it good to just stay away from my laptop completely for a few days every now and then, it sometimes helps.

I am also really bad at reading and researching how to do useful things, (eg sewing, gardening etc) to the point where I have no time to actually do the things I am trying to learn lol.

Of course, reading and commenting on your blog is in no way bad :D
